This module was designed to provide users with the ability to perform a system backup at any time and without the assistance of IS personnel. The ability to run your own system back-up provides you with the freedom to perform system processing at will, or to schedule heavy processing batch jobs during off-peak hours with the assurance that your system back up will be performed correctly and timely.

Minimal Set Up Required

System requires minimal set up during the initial installation and maintenance only when new back up jobs are created.

• Select the library[s] and/or files for back-up. Additions or deletions of system back-up can be performed at any time by user
• Select system and version you wish to back-up
• Provides ability to select the destination of back up data [tape or save file]
• Provides soft coded controls to set up user security
• Provides soft coded controls for selection of menu options to be deactivated while system back-up is active

Custom Features

• Provides the ability to perform automatic and/or menu driven back-up
• Automatically checks for object locks from interactive and batch jobs

• Automatically sends break message to interactive users advising of pending system back-up and requests sign off. If user does not sign off within a specified time, system will cancel user.

• System automatically determines the system and version based on the origin of the call command
• Menu driven back-up process provides user with the ability to cancel system back-up after finding active batch jobs

• System waits until active batch jobs have completed before performing system back-up
• Soft coded control entry screens contain promptable fields [F4] for ease in set up
